Have you ever considered a career in bartending? If so, then you are in luck. Below you will find a quick teaser lesson in mixology from the Maryland Bartending Academy. To learn more, you will just have to register for classes!
Drink Mixing Methods: Week 2
- Blended: First, fill the blender with cubed ice and the drink ingredients. Then blend on low initially, before switching to high speed for an additional 10-20 seconds. Finally, look and listen for any un-blended chunks of ice. And remember, the blender should be rinsed after each drink is made. Examples of drinks that are blended include: Pina Coladas and Daiquiris.
- Muddle: If a drink recipe calls for “muddling,” use the flat end of the muddler or bar spoon and crush the ingredients until they are “mutilated.” Examples of drinks that are muddled include: an Old Fashioned and Mint Juleps.
- Ingredients Only: If the mixing method states ingredients only, then add the required ingredients in the proper glass in exactly the order they are listed. Examples of drinks that are ingredients only include: Irish Coffees and Harbor Lights.
