Why all bartending schools are NOT the same- Maryland Bartending Academy vs. Community College and Online Bartending Schools

Would you ever attempt to learn how to drive a car without getting behind the wheel and physically driving? Probably not. The same goes for bartending as well. Online bartending schools are not regulated, therefore often leave potential students with false promises. Furthermore, online courses do not provide their students with the hands-on training needed to become a professionally polished bartender. This is also true for  bartending schools held at community colleges. Their curriculum is based strictly off of lectures and demonstrations only, and do not allow their students to physically practice making the drinks they learn during lecture. They also do not offer job placement assistance, leaving it up to the graduates to find employment solely on their own. And, often times with community college bartending schools, future students pay money for all of the books and supplies, but the classes do not become full enough and are therefore canceled.  Here at Maryland Bartending Academy, we have a specialized, regulated curriculum, along with a full-fledged bar for our students to practice and learn to the best of their ability. We also have guaranteed job placement assistance that is available as soon as students graduate.  That is where we differ from other bartending schools.

How do our classes work?

Our main goal has always been to provide the highest quality  instruction in the best learning environment  available. The first part of each class is a lecture and   demonstration by one of our “professional bartenders” drawing   from their own real-world experiences. Teaching in a controlled environment allows them to thoroughly explain in detail, what it takes to become a successful bartender. Once the lecture’s over, the real fun begins. Students will actually step behind the bar, and begin preparing drinks they have just learned. All students will have plenty of opportunities to practice making every drink, over and over again until they memorize the   required drink recipes. Attending bartending schools that focus solely on memorizing recipes without ever making the drinks do not allow students to get the required hands-on experience to become a professional, certified bartender.
