How much do bartenders make?
A question that we get often here at the Maryland Bartending Academy is "How much do bartenders MAKE?"
It's a simple and legitimate question—one that should be asked by anybody looking to get some bartender training.
But unfortunately, the answer's not quite as simple.
The Short Answer: It Varies!
The number one factor that determines how much do bartenders make - the place of employment!
If you work at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, for instance (a ritzy, high-class, expensive steakhouse), you'll make a lot more money than you will if you work at TGI Fridays, right?
This may not be the answer that you were hoping for. You may have been looking for a specific amount of money that bartenders earn, but we can't give that to you.
We can, however, give you some more data and perhaps an average.
A bartender at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse can make as much as $500-$600 per night!
A bartender at TGI Fridays or Don Pablos can earn as much as $200-$250 per night.
Generally, bartenders earn more than $20/hour. It's one of the most enjoyable and highest paying professions around. Besides the money, there are a lot of other benefits to becoming a bartender, like the atmosphere and general enjoyment factor.
You get to meet a lot of people, and you usually don't have to wear a suit and tie.
But best of all, is that once you train to become a bartender, and you get a job and start earning some experience, you can quickly move up in the world of bartending.
So to answer the question of how much do bartenders make, the short answer is that it varies.
