Good Bartending is All about Variety

This is true of the drinks you serve to your patrons, and it’s equally true of the tools you’ll have to use in order to get the job done.

When you get into bartending, you probably don’t consider how much there is that you have to learn before you actually get to start work.

But think about the following:

  • There are several different types of glasses – You wouldn’t serve beer in the same kind of glass you would serve wine.

Likewise, martinis get served in glasses that are different from the kind that champagne comes in.

In the long list of barware supplies that you’ll have to commit to memory, the types of glasses from which you’ll be serving drinks should come first.

  • A bartender needs to rely on basic kitchen supplies – If you want to make more money as a bartender, then you’d better make sure that your bartending accessories include items like kitchen knives and a blender, among others.

You never know when you’ll have to dice fruit for garnish, or mix ingredients for the perfect frozen drink, so you’ll need to be prepared.

  • You’ll need several niche tools as well – When thinking about bartending supplies, a bartender’s arsenal often consists of several unique instruments that are go a long way toward making sure that the drinks being served are the best possible.

These can include, among other things, a corkscrew to quickly open wine bottles, a strainer to separate ice from liquid, and a jigger for making sure that cocktails are consistently mixed all the time.

Sure, having a great personality and an ability to keep up with a fast paced environment are requirements for a good bartender, but that can all be for nothing if you don’t have the right bar products to use in your work.

The things listed here are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to bartending supplies. If you want to learn more, then you need to make sure that you get comprehensive training from a quality bartending school that can show you the ropes and get you ready to work.
